The Recording Preferences page enables the user to configure how shows are recorded and where the files are placed.
Video Folder*
The default folder where the SnapStream Enterprise TV Server will place the recordings it makes. To define a directory as a Video Folder, see the Video Folders section.
Preferred Recording File Format
The default, preferred file format in which new recordings are made, depending on the tuner card's capabilities. File format can be set per tuner card by modifying that tuner card's settings in the Audio and Video Inputs section.
Default Quality
The default video quality* at which recordings of the Preferred Recording File Format are made. To set the default quality for each file format, select each of them in turn, hit Save Changes, and return to the desired preferred format. To define a profile for video quality settings, see the Video Qualities section.
Pad Recordings The software allows "padding" of recordings as a safety mechanism against variations in broadcast timing. For example, with "pad recordings" set to 2 minutes, a show scheduled to start at 7:30pm and end at 8:30pm would begin recording at 7:28pm and end at 8:32pm.
SmartSkip Specifies whether SmartSkip chapters are to be generated immediately after a recording is finished, during off-peak times, or not at all.* The time and processing power required to generate SmartSkip chapters varies. "Off-peak times" can be defined in the ShowSqueeze section of the main menu in the Web Admin. By default, they are between 3am and 7am.
Automatic Conversion This option is not available with SnapStream Enterprise servers.
Mark Generic Episodes As New Specifies whether the SnapStream Enterprise TV Server will treat generic episodes of a series as new for the purposes of "Record All New Episodes". If enabled, a generic episode will always be flagged as new, regardless of the first aired date.
*Settings marked with an asterisk are defaults and can be modified in a recording job's details and on a per-tuner basis.
Be sure to hit the Save Changes button at the bottom of the screen after making any modifications.
