Snapstream to Release New Version of Its PC-Based TV Recording Software, Setting New Standard for Personal Video Recording
Comdex Fall 2002 Show Will be Host to Advance Demonstrations of SnapStream Personal Video Station Version 3.0

November 11, 2002 (HOUSTON) - SnapStream Media, a leading developer of digital entertainment software, today announced that it will debut the next version of its TV recording software, Personal Video Station Version 3.0, at Comdex Fall 2002 (booth # 5058-91). New capabilities of the software include an integrated electronic program guide; a full-screen, TV-screen interface; and the ability to pause, rewind and fast forward live television.

SnapStream Personal Video Station 3.0 gives users complete control of their TV recording experience. SnapStream’s powerful new program guide, SnapStream.NET, lets users record every episode of a favorite TV show with a single click. A comprehensive search engine allows the user to quickly find and record their favorite programs. SnapStream’s new “trickplay” functionality allows users to pause, rewind and fast forward live television. Finally, the latest version lets users watch their SnapStream TV recordings on their television through the network-enabled Sony PlayStation 2 and BroadQ’s QCast media player software.

With these new capabilities, SnapStream Personal Video Station 3.0 enables complete PC-based personal video recording for under $100. SnapStream's software will interoperate with the Media Center Edition of Windows XP, scheduled to be released later this year. As the Media Center Edition will only be sold on new PCs, SnapStream offers an ideal solution for existing PCs owners.

“SnapStream's vision is to leverage the existing home PC to create the simplest and most powerful TV recording product on the market. From basic TV recording capabilities like trickplay, to more advanced features such as network streaming and Pocket PC viewing, SnapStream is setting a new standard for personal video recording,” said Rakesh Agrawal, President and CEO, SnapStream Media. “Personal Video Station Version 3.0 includes live television and SnapStream's own integrated TV listings guide, making it the best product on the market for any satellite, cable, or antenna TV viewer to easily find, watch and record their favorite shows.”

With SnapStream Personal Video Station, consumers can record favorite television shows on their PC hard disk using the Windows Media or AVI file format. Consumers can then watch those shows anywhere inside the home over the wired or wireless home network. SnapStream recordings can also be viewed over the Internet, on Pocket PC handheld devices, or on mobile laptops. SnapStream Personal Video Station was first introduced at the 2001 International Consumer Electronics Show, where it was chosen as a finalist for the TechTV Best of Show Award. SnapStream was also featured in Bill Gates’ keynote address at the Windows XP Launch and in Paul Otellini’s keynote at the Fall 2002 Intel Developers Forum

“For consumers who want the most power over when and how they enjoy personal video entertainment, PC enhancements such as SnapStream’s Personal Video Station deliver the most versatility to their PC screen, TV screen and even handheld PCs,” said Richard Doherty, market analyst and Director, Envisioneering Group.

New features in the latest version of SnapStream’s TV Recording software include:

SnapStream and the PC as the Home Entertainment Gateway

SnapStream and other PC-based vendors, such as Microsoft, are battling with consumer electronics manufacturers, such as Tivo and ReplayTV, for the future of digital entertainment inside the home. SnapStream sees the PC winning the battle -- the PC sets itself apart from consumer electronics devices by natively embracing and enabling anytime, anywhere access to digital media.
